Get to know your breasts

Regularly noticing how your breasts usually look and feel can make it easier to spot a new change. Take a moment now and then, at your own pace and in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Engagement

Damella is a corporate partner of the Swedish Cancer Society in 2026.

We want to raise awareness of breast health and support the Swedish Cancer Society’s work to promote knowledge, hope, and cancer research.

A CALM ROUTINE

This is how you examine your breasts

You can perform a personal check regularly, for example about once a month. It’s about becoming aware of what’s normal for you - not about making a diagnosis.

Damella
STEP 1

Look in the mirror

Examine your breasts with your arms relaxed and then raised. Notice whether anything is new or unusual in shape, size, skin, or color.

Damella
STEP 2

Feel your breasts

Raise one arm and use the flat parts of the fingers on your other hand. Feel with gentle, even pressure over the entire breast and the area toward the armpit. Then switch sides.

Damella
STEP 3

Recognize when you’re lying down

Repeat the check while lying on your back with one hand behind your head. When you’re lying down, breast tissue may feel different.

GOOD TO KNOW

All breasts are different.

Breasts naturally differ in size, shape, and texture. Focus on what is new or unusual for you, such as a new lump, changes to the skin or nipple, nipple discharge, or persistent pain.

This information is general and does not replace advice from a healthcare professional or mammography. Contact a healthcare professional if you notice a change or feel concerned.
